What happened around the world
A shopper can now ask an AI tool what to buy, check a creator for proof, scan reviews for reassurance and finish on a marketplace or brand website. That is not a future funnel. It is already happening across Southeast Asia.
On July 23 in Singapore, impact.com debuted its latest Southeast Asia Influencer Marketing eCommerce Report with Cube and Dentsu. The official event describes new regional research into how creators, affiliate partnerships and AI are changing search, attribution and conversion.
ITBrief Asia reported the detailed findings on July 24. The study surveyed 2,400 consumers in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. It found that 24% now use generative AI during the shopping journey, while 67% said they had bought something because a creator recommended it.
Adoption is not uniform. ITBrief reports AI-shopping use at 34% in Vietnam, 31% in Indonesia and 14% in Singapore. Marketplaces still lead product discovery at 71%, with search engines at 57%. New behaviour is joining the old journey—not deleting it.
Why your business should care
Imagine someone asks, “What is the best sunscreen for humid weather?” or “Who can redesign my small-business website?” An AI answer may create the shortlist. The next click still needs evidence: a useful comparison, a clear service page, a real review, a creator demonstration or a brand voice that feels credible.
That is the useful tension in the research. AI helps people narrow the options, but trust still comes from people. ITBrief reports that family and friends ranked first for purchase influence, followed by online reviews and creators. Nearly half of affiliate purchases were linked to trust and validation, ahead of convenience.
If your information is vague, AI has little to work with. If your content feels synthetic, people have little reason to believe it. Brands now need both a clean knowledge layer and a convincing human layer.
The KILLER.COOL take
The funnel did not die. It became a group chat between algorithms, creators, customers and your website.
Do not respond by publishing more generic AI copy. Make the product or service facts unmistakable: who it is for, what problem it solves, what makes it different, where it is available and what someone should do next. Then surround those facts with proof only people can provide—taste, experience, demonstrations, reviews and a recognizable point of view.
This is bigger than Southeast Asia. The six-market study shows what globally connected shoppers are already learning to do: use AI for efficiency and humans for confidence. The winning brand will not choose between machine discovery and human trust. It will design the handoff.
Make the handoff useful
KILLER.COOL would start by rewriting the digital foundation in the language customers actually search: clear product and service pages, structured answers, useful editorial content and a site that gives search engines and AI systems accurate material to cite.
Then we would build the trust layer: creator-ready stories, social demonstrations, comparisons, proof points and paid creative that carries one recognizable idea into the places people already discover products.
Finally, every recommendation would lead to a focused page with one useful next action. More visibility is nice. A believable path from question to conversation is the outcome.
KILLER.COOL / SERVICES
How KILLER.COOL solves it
A connected discovery-to-conversion system: search-ready website content that AI can understand, creator and social proof people can trust, and focused digital experiences designed to turn attention into qualified inquiries or purchases.
Compact playbook / 04 moves
Build the path from AI answer to human yes.
- 01List the real questions customers ask before they choose you, then answer them plainly on your site.
- 02Turn product facts into proof people trust: reviews, creator demos, comparisons and honest examples.
- 03Connect search, social, creator and paid-media discovery to one focused landing experience.
- 04Measure the whole assisted journey—not only the final click—and improve the weakest handoff.
